For What is Your Life?

the stretch of road from San Pedro to El Progreso
Yesterday, Mark and I headed to San Pedro Sula to do some grocery shopping. Taylor and I normally travel this stretch of road each month but today the two of us went together. We had many errands to run and felt very accomplished as we headed back. We actually had Josiah with us for a fun little outing for him. When we were almost back to El

Progreso, we noticed that the traffic was coming to a slow crawl. We saw some police and thought about a random police stop or something. We never really thought about what we would see once we were closer. However, the image that we saw will be in our minds for a long time. As we passed by we saw a type of SUV parked on the opposite side of the road with both the drivers and passenger door wide open. Then just a few feet towards the back of the car face down were two people that had been shot and killed. From where we were the driver looked to be in his 20's but the passenger was much smaller. I was actually thinking he might have been a teen. However, the papers today said that it was a 28 year old and a 20 year old. Who had never had a criminal history. In fact the driver was a mechanic. It looks as if he was just an innocent bystander as he only received two of the 24 shots that were fired. What a sad day for these young men. It reminds of the verse "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. James 4:14" These men had no idea that yesterday when they woke up they would leave this world at noon. No man or women knows the future. The one thing that we can know for sure is Christ. Christ is my rock, he is my King, he is my comfort and he is my help. (Psalms 121) This is actually my favorite scripture in the bible. My help comes from the Lord. I may not know what tomorrow will hold for my life too it is but a vapor. But I do now that if God sees it fit to take me I am ready. Friends and Family and Strangers who may stumble upon this blog; I pray that you have have the same peace and reassurance in your life...the peace that only GOD can give. I pray that you seek someone who can help you know this eternal truth. You can even email us and we would be more than happy to help lead you to a pastor friend in your area or talk with you ourselves. The truth is...you do not need anyone else to take this step of faith...you simply call out to the Lord.

The first step to salvation is to realize that we are all sinners:
Romans 3:10 (KJV)
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one
Romans 3:23 (KJV)
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
**Next, you must know that because of sin there must be a price paid:
Romans 6:23 (KJV)
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
**This price can be paid by you with an eternity in Hell, or you can accept the price that Jesus paid for your sin:
Romans 5:8 (KJV)
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

**To accept Jesus’ payment for your sin simply call on His name and ask Him to forgive your sins and save you:
Romans 10:9-13 (KJV)
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. [11] For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. [12] For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. [13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
*****If you are ready to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, take time right now to pray, confessing your sin and asking Him to come into your heart and save you.

When you accept Jesus, He is faithful to do what He said He would - He forgives you and saves you.
1 John 5:13 (KJV)
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

If you have read this and come to know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior please take the time to send us a quick email to let us know of your decision. We would love to rejoice with you and help you in the new life you must now live.

Answered Prayers

THANK YOU is all we can say...we are so thankful for those who have helped answer our prayers. We have been able to purchase the new high chair seats for the twins. They really enjoy being able to sit up and eat and not be in someone's lap. We are also so excited to say that all the funds have been given to go and purchase car seats and a double stroller. THANK YOU ALL AGAIN. We are so blessed to have so many friends and family and even strangers we don't know except through the family of Christ reach out and help our ministry here. May God bless each of you.

A Day at the Zoo

Well, we recently, just finished of our first year of school here in Honduras. So, as a treat for the kids Pastor Matt and his family wanted to pay for the kids to go to the zoo. We packed up and headed out for the day. What a treat that was. The kids had never been to the zoo before and some of them had never been that far in a car before either. It was alot of fun watching them react to all the cool animals. We also had a great time hanging out with some of the sweet people from Laurel Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC.
Thanks Goins Family for treating us to the zoo!

Mother's Day

This year was a special Mother's Day here for me.  It is so amazing to think that I have been a momma for 17 years. Wow! Even writing that seems even more crazy. The Lord has blessed me with 4 wonderful children that I can see and care for everyday. Taylor, 17; Hunter almost 15; Josiah, 5 and Micah 2. HE also gave me three more Zoey, Noah and Uriah who have gone to be with the King of KINGS in heaven. Our miracle baby Micah turned 2 years old on mother's day. He was born by emergency c-section in a hospital in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. He has lived his entire life outside of the U.S.A. He has only visited for 3 weeks of his entire life to the place that Mark and I call home. I know that God has big plans for this little fellow and all of our children. Not only do I have the responsibility to be a mom to my 4 but I get to be a mom to 13 more that are not my blood. I pray that I will be the kind of mother that God would be pleased of. The role of a mom is not to be taken lightly. Each child is a unique and special gift from above. I know many women out there that can not have a child of their own. I do not know why God has made that decision. I like to think that it is because he has a special child in mind for them. A child that would come into this world to parents that never wanted kids but have spared the life of the child and given hope to another couple. I do know that if you want to.....you can love any child like your own. We have 13 of those as proof. We are all God's children to start...some will reject HIM and others will accept HIM and they will be in the adopted family of the Lord. I know that this is late....but I really hope that all of the mothers out there had a Happy Mother's Day!

David turns 8 Years OLD!!!!

David recently just turned 8. It is so amazing to see how much he has changed since he first entered the home. He has now celebrated his birthday with us twice. We remember when he first came he could not spell his name or really do anything for himself. Now, he can read in English and and in Spanish. It really is amazing. Thank you for those who help make a way for us to keep boys and girls like David in the home.

Preparing the Girls to Serve

Belkis

Taylor

One of the things that we are trying to encourage here in the home is a talent/skill in which they will be able to us to serve in the future. This year Belkis and Taylor both participated in piano through the institute here at El Faro. Taylor will be going off to college next year but she has really grown in her ability to play piano. She nows helps out playing for some of the childrens specials and she plays some for the church. They recently just concluded this years lessons with a recital. Both Taylor and Belkis did a great job. We look forward to what the future holds for both of these girls as they prepare to serve in the church. If you would like to help pay for nexts years piano lessons please email us and let us know. It cost about $50 for the year for each girl with their books.
